COMPETITIVE MESSAGING AUDIT
Differentiate your business
We identify with you who your key competitors are and then set out to define how they tell their story, how other’s perceive them, and where the white space is for you to stand out. Sometimes we include both current and aspirational competitors, and learn from them what they are doing well that we may adapt to fit your story and what they are not doing well that you could leverage to own distinct space in the market.
STAKEHOLDER + EMPLOYEE INTERVIEWS
How are you perceived by others?
Gaining insight from those who are closest to your business can be a powerful element of defining your story. Whether you set out to ground truth some assumptions or if you are seeking to uncover common themes or surprising perspectives, taking the time to have thoughtful, anonymous conversations with your clients, vendors, partners, and employees can create new storytelling opportunities.
BRAND PURPOSE & POSITIONING
Define your path.
Starting with a conversation that includes your key leaders, we conduct a story-based SWOT discussion to find common themes and distinct opportunities. The ideas about who you are and why you do what you do — beyond the obvious business transactions of the every day — is the start of any good story. The goal of this session is then to develop a platform that defines your highest calling and how you aim to achieve it. It is the foundation of any good story and a critical part of the process.
KEY MESSAGING & MANIFESTO
Bringing your story to life.
As part of the purpose and positioning process, we begin to lay out your key messaging. What are the three or four core ideas that support that purpose and position? How can you prove it to be true? And what does it look like when you transform it into a rally cry?
This critical internal document serves as a “cheat sheet” for transforming your ideas about your business into strong, compelling content. It is the structure of your story.
AUDIENCE ANALYSIS
Personalize your story.
While your story needs to be consistent, not every audience needs to hear it in the same way. There are elements of your story that will have more value and meaning to some audiences more than others. We work with you to define these audiences into categories and map them back to your key messaging to provide a roadmap to bringing your story to life effectively.
WEB + VIDEO + COPYWRITING
Create the tools to tell your story.
So now what? You have a deeper understanding of your story and how to tell it. You need tools to deliver that story.

ABOUT STORYFORCE
Stories have tremendous power.
When we thoughtfully define our purpose, values and those things that make us truly unique, we can communicate with clarity and focus. Just as an undefined goal will never be reached, an uncrafted story will never be heard.
For more than 20 years, I’ve led countless businesses and organizations through the process of defining and unleashing the power of their story. In that time, I’ve honed an approach that is effective, efficient, and results in a platform that inspires the people who make any organization a success.
My clients have included Fortune 100 companies and independent private businesses with fewer than 100 employees.
Since launching StoryForce in 2014, my business has evolved and shifted with the needs of clients and my own personal passions. Today, I take on high-impact clients who are eager to tell their story to make a difference, unify their organization, and chart new paths for success. Working with diverse industries helps to also inform my work at Oregon State University, where I lead marketing and communications for the College of Agricultural Sciences while also teaching communications.
The best professional compliment I think I’ve received in my career was when a client casually shared that I was incredibly hard working, but still really laid back. I can’t think of a better way to live out my professional passion and personal values. Because excellence is all the sweeter when it comes by way of treating others with grace, honesty, and the understanding that we all have a story.
HAPPY CLIENTS
For more than 20 years, I’ve led countless businesses in nearly every industry imaginable through the process of unleashing the power of their story.
